Paint the Town – CdM Mural Program

Sherman Library & Gardens is venturing outside the garden walls – literally! This summer, we collaborated to enhance the CdM Village experience through a mural program supported by grant funds from the City, 5th District Supervisor Katrina Foley, and me, with thanks to the contributions of property owners Jake Klohs and the Poole Family, as well as artists Jon Leonardo, Cory Schnitzer, Joe Geis, and Aaron Martinez.

Join us for a progressive unveiling event on November 20th, beginning at 3:30pm at Sherman Library and Gardens and ending at 5:00pm at the Place, offering food and drink specials. Open to the public.

Safety Spotlight: Crime Prevention Specialist, Sara Verschueren

Crime Prevention Specialist, Sara Verschueren, has been with the Newport Beach Police Department for ten years. She says residents have such an important role to play in law enforcement: “Our people are able to their jobs well because of the support and partnership with this community. Thank you for being engaged in this mission with us and for all your support for NBPD!” In her free time, she enjoys pickle ball, puzzles, and traveling – especially to visit family.

She shares important holiday reminders below.

As daylight hours shorten and the holidays approach, the Newport Beach Police Department would like to remind you that by staying aware and taking a few simple precautions, we can ensure our community remains safe and secure this season.

  • Keep the outside of your home well lit from dusk to dawn using photocells, timers and motion sensors on your exterior lights. Give the appearance that someone is home. Use timers or smart technology for interior lights and tvs.

  • Do not advertise if you are out of town on social media.

  • Invest in a doorbell camera.

  • Never leave your valuables unattended (phone, purse, wallet, etc.).

  • Do not leave shopping bags in your car.

  • Have packages sent to your workplace (with your employer’s permission) or the home of a friend or family member who will be home for the delivery, or use local pick-up options- in-store pick up, Amazon locker, etc.
